Born in 1602 Belgium, Champaigne was unlike artists who painted in royal and aristocratic circles who only developed a style of flattery, daring not to go too deep or away from the norm. Due to his personal life experiences however and its many catastrophies, Champaigne paints quite biographically without the intrusion of his own ego. Popular paintings are 'Ex Voto' and 'Triple Portrait of Cardinal Richelieu'.
