At O-P-R-A we do not sell frames with the painting. There are reasons for this.

  • Honestly, there are inventory and cost issues, we need to keep large selection of frames and this would eventually reflect on our costs. However we aim to provide you museum quality paintings at the best price possible. Best price is only possible with a strict control of our overheads!
  • A large frame will cost a lot of money to deliver to you and more vulnerable to accidents during transport than a painting carefully tucked into a sturdy tube.
  • We do not want to sub contract a framer. This would bring quality control issues on our behalf, as we are not able to control the total process.
  • Sometimes looking at the picture against your wall without the frame may give you ideas about how to decide on the best frame. Remember every home has its own design values and characteristics. By looking at your furniture and other finishing at your home you can decide the best style frame for your painting.

How to achieve a perfect look on your museum quality painting?

To achieve the best look of your new painting you need to choose your frame very carefully. The saying may go for the books “do not judge a book by its cover”. However for the paintings a frame would be the final statement on the paintings quality. A superior frame can show a painting better. On the other hand an inferior frame will do much injustice to your beautiful painting as well. As the analogies may go this is not much different from a beautiful women with nice clothes and bad ones.

Location of your Paintings

It is known royalties in the past would order masterpieces for their bathroom only to see the beautiful artworks to reach a decaying situation. Please avoid humidity contact your paintings. The bathrooms and kitchens are some of the worst places to keep your paintings. Also humid and wet storage places such as attic or garage may not be ideal for keeping your paintings. Dry places that do not get exposed to temperature extremes are best places to keep your paintings.

Varnishing: Final finishing touch

We recommend several months after you received your painting you may like to apply a layer of colourless varnish to the painting. Varnishing protects the painting and in most cases may enhance the look. Varnishing will also protect the painting from dirt, moisture and rubbing. Varnish comes in two types; matte and gloss. There are also two choices for application: spray or by brush. These products are available at your local art supplies or hardware store. Please do not buy a cheap brand. A few dollars spent more will give you much superior look. Please read and follow the direction from the manufacturer for best results. If not certain ask someone with experience to do it for you. The friendly staff at your art supplies might be worth asking for.

A friendly warning: Please remember to wait a few months after you apply varnishing process. Painting delivered to you will be touch-dry. However the layers below will need to take a very hard shape before varnishing is applied. If the varnishing is applied result may be the cracks on the surface of the painting.
